But now, with the advent of online net banking facility, customers can access their account themselves anytime and anywhere. State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest banking sector provides 24x7 online internet banking service. With internet connection, SBI customers can easily access this service. How to Activate SBI Online Net Banking?

SBI customers in order to get this online net banking service must have their account in net banking enabled SBI bank branch. Also, you have to register with the bank branch for the online net banking service. To register for this service, visit your SBI bank branch and fill the net banking form provided by the bank. A Pre-Printed Kit (PPK) with your user name and password will be given to you by the bank. To get started with the online net banking service, you need to enter the first-time user name and password given in the Pre-Printed Kit.

How to Login for First-time in SBI Online Net Banking?

  • Get access to the site https://www.onlinesbi.com/
  • In the home page, click ‘Login’ under the Personal Banking section.
  • Login to the site by entering your username and password given in the kit
  • Once logged in, you can change your username and password of your own choice.

How to Change User name and Password in SBI Online Net Banking?

  • It is mandatory for the online SBI users to change their user name and password after the first-time login. The username once changed should remain the same. But users can change password any number of time. Frequent changing of password helps to protect your account. To change your user name and password,
  • Once logged in with the user name and password given in the kit, enter your new username and password which should be maximum of 20 characters. The username and password are case sensitive.
  • The user name and password should be a combination of alphanumeric and special characters.
  • Type your user name and to check whether your username is available or not, click ‘Check Username Availability’.
  • Then enter the kit number which is given on the back of the kit and select the ‘I accept the terms and conditions’ checkbox and click ‘submit’
  • Now enter your new password. Users have to use two different passwords- Login Password and Profile Password. Login Password- to access your account and Profile Password-to update your profile.
  • Users can also use ‘Multi-lingual Image-based Virtual Keyboard’ to set the profile password. Password setting using this keyboard should contain 8-20 characters including two special images. SBI net banking also provides different choice of languages from which you can choose the language you need.
  • Enter your new password in the ‘New Login Password’ field and then re-enter the same password in ‘Confirm Login Password’ field. Click ‘Confirm’
  • Like that, set your profile password and enter the required details. Once confirmed your profile password, select the hint question and answer it. In case you forget your password, you can make use of this to retrieve your password.
  • Enter your date of birth, place where you born and country.
  • Enter your mobile number to get notifications related to your online banking.
  • After providing all necessary details, click ‘submit’.
  • A message saying ‘Your Profile Password has been set successfully’ will appear on the screen upon successful password setting. You are all set to access your account.

How to Transfer Money to Other Bank Account via Online SBI Net Banking?

SBI customers can make transactions to other bank account with this online SBI net banking facility. To transfer money via online SBI net banking, first of all, the user must add the other as beneficiary. To add one as a beneficiary, you should know the beneficiary’s name, account number and IFSC code. Get these details from your beneficiary, so that you can transfer fund to their account.

How to Add Beneficiary in SBI Online?

To add beneficiary, go along with the following steps.

  • Login tohttps://www.onlinesbi.com/personal/ using your user name and password
  • In the ‘Profile’ tab, click ‘Manage Beneficiary’
  • If the transaction is between the same bank, click on ‘Intrabank Beneficiary’. If the transaction is between the State Bank group itself, use ‘State Bank Group Beneficiary’. If the transaction is made to a different bank, then use ‘Interbank Beneficiary’.
  • After selecting any one option, enter beneficiary’s details such as name, address, account number, IFSCcode and bank branch.
  • If you know your beneficiary’s IFSC code, then type the 11-digit IFSC code on the textbox. If you don’t know the IFSC code, click the ‘Location’ option and select the beneficiary’s bank name, location and branch from the drop-down menu. You will get the IFSC code.
  • Click on the ‘Terms and Conditions’ checkbox and then tap the ‘Submit’ button.
  • Once the details are submitted, the beneficiary will be added.
  • A high security password will be sent to your registered mobile number to double check your identity. Enter the password to confirm your beneficiary. Once confirmed, you can make transactions.

How to Make Transactions via SBI Online?

Once the beneficiary is added, you can make transactions via SBI online. To transfer funds,

  • Go to Payments/Transfers tab and click ‘Interbank Transfer’
  • Then choose the type of transaction- NEFT or RTGS or IMPS
  • Enter the beneficiary’s name and amount and click ‘Submit’. The details will be displayed on the next page which you have to verify. If there is any error, click cancel and make correction. If all details are correct, then click ‘Confirm’
  • Once confirmed, you are ready to make transactions.

How to Change Mobile Number through SBI Net Banking?

Resident customers who have an active ATM cum Debit card with his/her account linked with net banking user name, can change his/her mobile number without any need to visitthe bank branch.

Step by step Process

  • Login to OnlineSBI and go to ‘Profile’ tab.
  • Tap on ‘Personal Details’ option and enter your profile password
  • Your Net banking registered display name, email ID and mobile number will appear on the screen.
  • Click on the hyper link ‘Change Mobile Number-Domestic Only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre’
  • A new page ‘Personal Details-Mobile Number Update’ with three tabs ‘Create Request’, ‘Cancel Request’ and ‘Status’ will be displayed.
  • Enter your new number in ‘New Mobile Number’ field and re-enter the same to confirm.
  • Click ‘Submit’. A message will appear stating ‘Verify and Confirm your Mobile Number XXXXXXXXXX’
  • To proceed, click ‘Ok’
  • You can confirm your change of mobile number by using any one of the modes- By OTP on both the mobile number, Internet Banking Request Approval Through ATM (IRATA) or through contact number.

View Status/Cancellation of Request

To view the status of your request for updation or change of mobile number via internet banking,

  • Login to Online SBI and go to ‘Profile’ tab
  • Tap on ‘Personal Details’ option.
  • Your Net banking registered display name, email ID and mobile number will appear on the screen.
  • Click on the hyper link ‘Change Mobile Number-Domestic Only (Through OTP/ATM/Contact Centre’
  • A new page ‘Personal Details-Mobile Number Update’ with three tabs ‘Create Request’, ‘Cancel Request’ and ‘Status’ will be displayed.
  • Click on ‘Status’ tab and view the status of your request for change of mobile number via net banking.
  • Then go to ‘Cancel Request’ tab and click ‘Cancel Request’ for the request to be cancelled.
  • A message will appear on the screen stating ‘Your Reference Number UMXXXXXXXXXX’

How to Register for Mobile Banking Service?

SBI customers can get the banking facility in their mobile itself. In order to get this service, you need to register first. You can complete this registration process over mobile handset and at SBI ATM/SBI Branch/Online SBI.

Mobile Handset Process

The mobile handset process involves two steps- to get user id, default MPIN and link and to change the default MPIN.

How to Get User ID, Default MPIN and Link?

To get user ID and default MPIN, send an SMS as MBSREG to 9223440000/ 567676. Along with user ID and default MPIN, you will also receive a link through which you can download the app. If your chosen mode of channel is app based, then download the State Bank Freedom App from the link. Also, you can browse on your mobile using the link https://m.onlinesbi.com/.

How to Change the Default MPIN?

To Change MPIN over App

  • If you are using Mobile Banking service through State Bank Freedom app, install the app and login using the user ID sent through SMS.
  • Open the app and before changing the MPIN, accept the ‘Terms and Conditions’
  • Enter the default MPIN in the ‘Old MPIN’ field and then enter the 6-digit new MPIN of your own in the ‘New MPIN’ field. Confirm by re-entering the new MPIN again in ‘Confirm New MPIN’ field.
  • Then click ‘Change’. You will receive a confirmation message via SMS.
  • In case the process gets delayed, click ‘Settings’ from Main menu and then choose ‘Change MPIN’.

To Change MPIN over WAP

  • In your mobile, browse http://mobile.onlinesbi.com/sbiwap/
  • Login using your user ID and default MPIN
  • You will receive an SMS with your WAP login ID to your registered mobile number. Enter the WAP login ID in the browser screen.
  • If the details entered are correct, the mobile banking service screen with main menu will appear.
  • Click ‘Settings’ from Main menu and then choose ‘Change MPIN’. Enter your old MPIN in the ‘Old MPIN’ field and your new MPIN in the ‘New MPIN’ field. Confirm your new MPIN by re- entering the new MPIN in ‘Confirm New MPIN’ field. Then click ‘Submit’.
  • You will receive an SMS upon successful change of MPIN.

To Change MPIN over USSD

In order tochange MPIN over USSD,

  • Dial *595#
  • Enter your user ID and select option ‘4’
  • Then enter your old MPIN and SEND.
  • Enter your new MPIN and SEND.
  • Confirm your new MPIN and SEND.
  • You will receive a message stating ‘Your MPIN is changed’

Once you have successfully changed your MPIN, you will receive a message stating ‘Your validation from handset is successful’. Complete the registration process by visiting your bank branch/ATM/Online SBI.

Process at SBI Branch/SBI ATM/Online SBI

After the mobile handset process gets completed, you need to complete the registration process by visiting SBI branch/SBI ATM/Online SBI.

SBI Branch

Once completed your handset process, proceed to your bank branch and fill the required form to fulfil the registration process. Instantly, your account will get activated for mobile banking service.

SBI ATM

Swipe your debit card and select the ‘Mobile Registration’ option and then choose ‘Mobile Banking’ option. Select the ‘Registration’ option under ‘Mobile Banking’ and then enter your mobile number and select ‘Yes’. Once the number appears on the ATM screen, select ‘Confirm’. Get the registration confirmation receipt. A message will be sent to your registered mobile number upon successful activation of your account. You can make use of all options under mobile banking service.

Online SBI

After confirming that your MPIN has changed and once you received the validation message of handset process completion, log in to Online SBI and select ‘eServices’. From the list on left side, click ‘State Bank Freedom’. From the options available on the top, select ‘Registration’. Choose the account which is to be enabled for mobile banking service from the list and click ‘submit’. The chosen account is the primary account for the service and you can register only one account via Online SBI. To register other accounts under the same CIF, visit your bank branch.

How to Register/Update for SBI SMS Alert?

By registering for SBI SMS alert facility, SBI customers can get regular updates regarding their SBI account’s banking transactions. You can register for this service either by visiting your SBI bank branch or in online. To register for this SBI SMS alert service in online SBI,

  • You should have your mobile number registered with SBI branch.
  • Login to SBI net banking. In the request tab, click the link ‘SMS Alerts’
  • A list of accounts will appear. Select the account you like to get SMS alerts and then tap ‘Ok’.
  • Select the events you wish to get SMS alerts.

How to Get SBI Missed Call Banking Service?

SBI customers can get their account balance and mini statement by just giving missed call or by sending a message from their registered mobile number to this SBI Missed Call Banking service. Android, Windows, iOS or Blackberry users can download the SBI Quick App from the app store. In its Pre-login section, SBI Anywhere offers this SBI Quick service. You don’t want to keep in mind the keywords and destination mobile numbers. There is no need for net connection to use this SBI Quick facility and once the app is installed on your mobile, you can connect via SMS or by giving missed call.

One Time Registration Process

  • Send message from your registered mobile number to 09223488888 as REGYour Account number.
  • You will receive a confirmation message upon successful/unsuccessful registration.
  • If your registration is successful, you can make use of the services.
  • If your registration is unsuccessful, check the message format and the destination mobile number. Also, make sure that your mobile number is registered with your bank. If not, visit your bank branch and get your mobile number registered with the bank.

ATM Card Configuration

To block ATM Card in case of loss/theft:

Send an SMS as ‘BLOCK last 4-digits of your card number’ to 567676 from your registered mobile number.

Once your request is accepted, you will receive an SMS with ticket number, date and time of blocking.

To Switch On/Off your ATM Card usage at POS, ATM, E-Commerce, International and Domestic:

Send an SMS as ‘SWON/ SWOFFATM/ POS/ ECOM/ INTL/ DOM last 4-digits of your card number’ to 09223966666 from your registered mobile number. SWON for activation and SWOFF for deactivation.

Once your request for activation/ de-activation is approved, you will receive an SMS with reference number, date and time of request.

Green PIN

To create ATM card PIN via SMS,

  • Send an SMS as PIN to 567676 from your registered mobile number.
  • An OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter that OTP at ATM centre within two days to change the ATM card PIN.
